Sam is a graphic designer who has spent the past six months creating exceptional designs and posting them on all his social media platforms [consistently, might I add]. A little while later, a recruitment official with an international interior décor team reached out to him with the offer of a full-time role to work with the firm. She said, “We saw and absolutely loved the fictional design you made for Grandeur, an interior design firm, and we would love to have you on our team.”
Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity - Seneca
Stay ready so that you don't have to get ready, am I right? Do you have plans? What are you doing about them? A wise man once said, “What you will become, you have already started becoming.” And I agree. Proper preparation and planning play a key role in how so many aspects of our lives turn out.
Five steps to getting [and staying prepared]:
Here are five things that you could do to help with your planning and growth process:
Have a clear vision- It's like going grocery shopping without a list or a plan. You might end up with a lot of things that you don't need. Having an actual plan and a clear vision of what you want to do makes the whole process one step easier.
You don't have to be an expert to start- You don't have to be an expert in that field to write or speak about it, it's okay to learn on the job. Do it scared.
Don't overthink it- You might want to hit that publish button as soon as you type your last full stop. Try not to overthink your content, it is good enough. You could also ask for feedback to learn ways to get better.
Stay consistent- Is putting out content five times a week feasible or would you rather do it every week? Stick to a system that works for you.
Awareness- You've gotta be your biggest cheerleader. Let people know what you do. Show off your skills and services.
In all, I think that what matters is that you put in your best [people usually can tell], try to stay consistent, and strive to learn and grow in your scene- take courses and learn from people who walked that path before you.
It's okay to not have it all figured out before you start. You're gonna be just fine and I'm rooting for you.
Are there other actionable steps that have helped you? I'd love to hear about them!
Surely you know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you!
1 Corinthians 3:16 (GNBDK)
Honestly, you've said it all. But I'll add this, there's a quote I got from a famous body builder named SAM SULEK. And it goes "The hardest part of doing something new is that you don't have the results to remain motivated". And this is so true. The first thing you must acknowledge is that you have to remain motivated regardless of the outcome of you first couple of tries. I hope this helps.
